Changing the Nation; Part 1

A person I think is making the nation better is our old mayor Joey Thaut. I've lived across the street from her for about four years now. I didn't think very much of her at first, because she was just kind of grumpy and was always locked inside her house with her dog and cat. She loved them more than anything and it really showed.
Just recently, Joey was not elected for mayor and also got fired from her job. Me and my family watched as everyone turned against her, because she was not a huge cause for money anymore. Joey decided to join the Red Cross and move to Ethiopia. She left her dog and cat in California with family. We all know that Ethiopia is a poor country. I know she has little food, little shelter, and little of everything else. This has a huge impact on the nation because this is someone who cares and is putting herself through this for others. She also gave her house away to my aunt. My aunt did not have to buy the house, Joey simply handed it to her, and said "It's yours if you would like it." All my aunt has to do is pay rent. Joey gave up all her belongings to my aunt too. Joey also mentioned that my aunt may buy the house whenever she is ready. In my eyes, Joey is a leader and a hero.

  1. Wow! I did not know that. First of all, it is people like Joey that the news should be talking about. That is a very selfless path she has chosen, and an admirable one as well. I guess when you have lost everything that makes your life normal you become inspired to be abnormal. The sad part is, millions of people are living lavishly taking for granted what she has chose to live without. What a saint! Great job!
